Scrum Master Certified (SMC®) is a professional certification offered by SCRUMstudy™ — the global accreditation body for Scrum and Agile certifications. It recognizes individuals who understand the Scrum framework, roles, events, artifacts, and practical implementation of Scrum in real projects.
A Scrum Master certified through this program is equipped to:

A SCRUMstudy™ certificate should be renewed within three calendar years of its issue date. As the Scrum/Agile field is maturing, it is important for practitioners to be abreast of current and latest innovations in the field.
For example, the current version of the SBOK™ Guide includes details on Scaling Scrum for Large Projects and Scaling Scrum for the Enterprise. Sections on improving the Scrum Guidance Body and Planning in Scrum have also been updated.
Maintaining a certificate enables a student to demonstrate his/her commitment to continuing learning. It also demonstrates the student’s knowledge of Scrum/Agile to employers, peers and colleagues.
A student can renew his/her certificate in the following ways:
1. Renew Through Your Training Provider (ATP):
Students may contact their Authorized Training Provider (ATP) directly for assistance with recertification. ATPs may be able to offer students cost-effective options for recertifying.
2. Re-Certification:
Students can renew all their existing certifications on SCRUMstudy by taking the Recertification Exam through their SCRUMstudy account.
This is a quick and affordable option for students who simply wish to extend the validity of their current certification.
The Recertification course is not as extensive as the full Certification course and includes only half the number of exam questions. A student can pass the Recertification Exam with just a few hours of study.
Passing the Recertification Exam implies that the student has reviewed the latest concepts from the SBOK Guide. As such, all previous certifications held by the student will be renewed for 3 years from the date of passing this exam.
3. Self-Certification:
This is a simple recertification process in which students can renew all their existing certifications on SCRUMstudy through a Self-Certification method. Students must confirm that they have completed 40 hours of study relevant to Scrum within the past 3 years.
They are also required to provide a brief write-up describing their self-study during this period and can renew their certifications by paying the applicable self-certification fee.
4. Upgrade via Higher-Level Certification:
Students can also renew their certification by enrolling in a higher-level SCRUMstudy course. This can be purchased after the student logs into their online portal.
Once the student completes and passes the higher-level certification, all previous certifications under the same brand are automatically renewed for another 3 years.
This option is ideal for students who wish to advance their <name of course> knowledge while renewing their existing credentials.
